Orchard Policies

Animal & Pet Policy

At Scott’s Orchard, we love animals! However, because we are a working, food-producing farm and orchard, we must strictly comply with federal and local food safety regulations. These laws are in place to ensure that the fresh produce, baked goods, and treats we provide to our community remain safe, clean, and uncontaminated.

To help us maintain these critical health and safety standards, we ask that you leave your pets at home when visiting the farm.

No Pets Beyond the Parking Lot

Strict Rule: No household pets, companion animals, or emotional support animals are permitted anywhere on the farm grounds outside of the designated parking lot area.

If you travel with your pet, they must remain safely inside your vehicle or within the immediate parking area. They will not be allowed near the Farm Store, the picking fields, the pavilion, or the playground.

Service Animals are Welcomed

We happily welcome trained Service Animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). To ensure a safe environment for both our guests and our crops, service animals must meet the following criteria:

  • Trained for a Task: The animal must be individually trained to do work or perform specific tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability.
  • Leashed and Controlled: The animal must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered at all times while on the property, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using them.

Important Note Regarding Verification:

Please note that our staff may ask clarifying questions if the animal’s purpose is not readily apparent, or if the animal does not appear to be actively trained to perform a specific action or service.

Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)

We understand that comfort and emotional support animals are incredibly important to their owners. However, the ADA does not classify dogs or other animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support as service animals. Because they do not have specific task training and are not recognized under the ADA, Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are not permitted past the parking lot.

We truly appreciate your understanding, cooperation, and help in keeping Scott’s Orchard compliant with food safety regulations so we can continue to serve our community safely.
