Meet the Family Behind Scott’s Orchard

Five Generations of Heart, Hard Work, and Heritage

When you visit Scott’s Orchard, you are stepping onto land that has been loved and tended by the same family for 125 years. Our farm thrives because of the dedicated individuals who pour their passion into the soil, the harvest, and the community every single day.

Meet the third, fourth, and fifth generations of the Scott family who keep our orchard legacy growing strong!

The Third Generation

Larry & Joan Scott

Larry is a Co-Owner of Scott’s Orchard and a third-generation fruit farmer. He and Joan have been happily married since 1966, raising two children, Jill Scott-Swinford and Kevin Scott.

  • Larry’s Role: He spearheads the vast majority of our fruit harvesting operations, ensuring every peach and apple is picked at peak perfection.
  • Joan’s Role: Joan is the culinary heart of our autumn season—she is the mastermind behind our famous, delicious homemade caramel apples. This annual treat has become a legendary staple that guests look forward to every single year.

Tommy & Kay Scott

Tommy was a Co-Owner of the orchard and a third-generation fruit farmer until his passing in May of 2019. He and Kay were married in 1972, dedicating their lives to building the foundation of the farm we know today. He left his legacy ever strong; leaving his portion of the farm for Will to manage.

The Fourth Generation

Kevin & Martha Scott

Kevin, the son of Larry, proudly steps into the family legacy as a fourth-generation fruit farmer. He is married to Martha, and they are the proud parents of Will and Alex Scott.

The Fifth Generation

Will Scott

Will, the son of Kevin and a proud fifth-generation Scott family fruit farmer. Will joined the farm full-time in 2015 after graduating from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems. He combines generations of agricultural tradition with innovative technology and modern management, helping lead the orchard into the future.

When he’s not at the orchard, Will enjoys spending time on the lake, taking to the skies as a licensed pilot, and making the most of the outdoors. His passion for both farming and adventure reflects the same curiosity, dedication, and forward-thinking approach he brings to the family business every day.

  • Will’s Multi-Faceted Roles:
    • Manages our popular Pick-Your-Own (PYO) operations.
    • Coordinates our presence at regional farmers markets.
    • Directs our vital Farm-to-School program, bringing fresh fruit to local students.
    • Oversees our entire farm-wide food safety program to ensure absolute quality.

“We don’t just inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”
