Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 07/22/2026
Scott’s Orchard (“Scott’s Orchard,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through scottsorchard.com (the “Site”), why we collect it, and the choices you have.
We’re a small family farm, not a data company. We don’t sell your information, and the only tracking we run is Google Analytics, used to understand how people use the Site so we can improve it.
1. Who We Are
Scott’s Orchard 2163 Scott Rd, Hazel Green, AL 35750 info@scottsorchard.com (256) 828-4563
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly, through our newsletter signup, or when you place an order or buy tickets through the Site:
- Name and email address (newsletter signup)
- Name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping (or pickup) details, and order contents (product/ticket purchases)
- Payment card information, entered directly into our payment processor — we do not see or store your full card number
- The content of any message you send us directly by phone or email
Information collected automatically when you visit the Site:
- IP address, browser type, device type, operating system
- Pages viewed, time on page, referring URL, general location (city/region level)
- This is collected through Google Analytics — see Section 4.
We do not collect government ID numbers or other sensitive personal data through this Site.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To process and fulfill your orders and ticket purchases, including payment, pickup, or shipping
- To send our newsletter, if you subscribe (you can unsubscribe anytime — every email includes a link)
- To understand how visitors use the Site, via aggregated Google Analytics data
- To maintain the security of the Site and prevent spam or abuse (via reCAPTCHA — see Section 4)
- To meet legal, tax, or contractual obligations
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not sell or rent it to third parties.
4. Cookies and Third-Party Services
Here’s the complete list of what actually runs on this Site.
| Service | Purpose | Sets Cookies? |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics (GA4) | Aggregate, anonymized traffic and behavior reporting. This is our only analytics/tracking tool. | Yes |
| Google Tag Manager | Loads the Google Analytics tag. We do not use it to run advertising or retargeting pixels. | Indirectly, via GA |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Spam and bot protection on our newsletter signup form. | Yes |
| WooCommerce (shop/cart) | Powers our online store, shopping cart, and checkout. | Yes, session-based |
| Payment processor | Securely processes your card payment when you check out. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. | Yes |
| The Events Calendar / ticketing | Powers event listings and online ticket purchases. | Session-based only |
At this time, we do not run advertising pixels, retargeting tags, social media tracking scripts, or heatmap/session-recording tools. Our social media icons are plain links to our profiles — they don’t track you on this Site.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on if you’d like to opt out of GA specifically. Blocking cookies may affect some Site functionality (like checkout or newsletter signup).
5. How We Share Information
We share information only with the service providers listed in Section 4, each bound by their own privacy terms, and only as needed to operate those tools:
- Google Privacy Policy (Analytics, Tag Manager, reCAPTCHA)
- Our payment processor’s privacy policy (provided at checkout)
- Any shipping carrier, if your order is shipped rather than picked up at the farm
We may also disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we’ll notify you if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Data Retention
- Order and payment records: retained as long as required for tax, accounting, and warranty purposes, generally up to 7 years.
- Newsletter subscriber data: retained until you unsubscribe.
- Google Analytics data: retained per Google’s default retention settings (currently 14 months), which we do not extend.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Request a copy of it
- Request correction or deletion
- Opt out of the sale or “sharing” of personal information (we don’t do either, but you can still ask)
- Appeal a decision we make about your request
Alabama’s own privacy law, the Alabama Personal Data Protection Act, takes effect May 1, 2027, but only applies to businesses that control or process data for more than 25,000 Alabama residents, or that get more than 25% of revenue from selling personal data — thresholds we don’t meet. If applicable to you, rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Colorado Privacy Act, and similar state laws, as well as GDPR if you’re in the UK/EU, may still apply.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@scottsorchard.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We’ll respond within the time required by applicable law (typically 45 days). We won’t discriminate against you for making a request.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them online. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we’ll delete it.
9. International Visitors
The Site is hosted in the United States. If you’re visiting from outside the U.S., your information will be processed here, under U.S. law.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. Material changes (e.g., adding a new tracking tool) will be reflected here before they take effect.
