Our legacy as a family-run operation
Our story begins in 1901, when Thomas M. Scott, Jr. and his wife Viola founded the farm on 233 acres in Southern Tennessee. They raised seven children and farmed a variety of crops. In 1927, we produced our first crop of apples, marking the beginning of what would become our orchard legacy.
The two brothers became the second-generation owners of the farm. However, within two months of inheritance, Roy L. Scott purchased his brothers’ shares and became sole owner of the original 233 acres.
Today, we continue that legacy as a family-run operation. Roy’s sons, Larry and Tommy Scott, represented the third generation of ownership and carried forward the family farm and business. Although Tommy has since passed, his legacy continues to remain an important part of our story and the foundation of who we are today. Together, they helped grow and expand the farm’s production to include apples, peaches, corn, soybeans, watermelons, pumpkins, tomatoes, and peppers across 182 acres of the original farm.
125 years of agricultural production
In 2010, Scott’s Orchard was honored as a Tennessee Century Farm, recognizing over 100 years of continuous agricultural production. In 2026 we are proud to celebrate 125 years of Scott’s Orchard.
Today, we are proud to carry the farm into the next generations. Kevin Scott, son of Larry, represents the 4th generation of leadership, and his son Will continues the tradition as the 5th generation involved in the future of the farm. Together, we remain committed to honoring our past while growing the future of the orchard for generations to come.
