Crop Drop
The Society of Saint Andrews along with Feed America helped hundreds of families in the North Alabama area obtain fresh apples and sweet potatoes at their crop drop on January 18 at the Madison County Farmers Market on Cook Avenue.
Hundreds of volunteers were present to help bag apples and sweet potatoes for food banks in red counties (these are counties with a well-known high poverty level). Apples donated by Scott’s Orchard and Crow Mountain along with sweet potatoes donated by Bryan out of Cullman, AL, were greatly appreciated by the 16 food banks that received the fresh and local produce.
